Frequently Asked Questions

As part of our commitment to maintaining good communications with the families we cater for, we have endeavoured to answer some of your frequently asked questions below and we will continue to add any information that may be of benefit to you.

Why should I send my child to your preschool?

Our Pre-School is a well established, reliable, cosy and nurturing setting.  We offer an ideal home from home environment, with a strong team of specially selected and dedicated staff.  Where your child can feel instantly comfortable and not overwhelmed, as they explore, learn and socialise, in the safe hands of their individually assigned key worker.

I would like to learn more about your preschool, what should I do?

Our Pre-School welcomes visitors and new starters, please feel free to come and have a look around, to see for yourself what we have to offer.  Due to the current Covid guidelines, we advise that you phone and make an appointment prior to visiting, On your arrival you will be greeted and shown around by the Manager, who will take you through the typical daily routine, the enrolment process and answer any questions you may have.

I am interested in enrolling my child?

If you have not already done so and would like to, please feel free to come and have a look around, for reasons outlined above, please phone to arrange an appointment.  The Manager will answer any questions you may have and register your session requirements.  You will then be given a Welcome Pack, containing the registration form, policies and more detailed information., which you will be able to take home, complete in your own time and return.

What happens when my child starts preschool?

When you bring your child to preschool for their first session, you will be greeted by the Manager, please hand in your completed forms and you will be introduced your child's assigned key worker.  The key worker will be your first point of call for any queries you may have, as they will be working with you and responsible for recording your child's progress with us via our online Learning Journal software - Tapestry (subject to parental permissions).  See bottom of page for further information on Tapestry.

What should my child wear to preschool?

We have uniform which can be purchased, consisting of Polo Shirts, Sweatshirts or cardigans, all are red with the Euxton Pre-School Sunflower Logo.  Though not compulsory, families have found it to be helpful in the settling in process (feeling part of the "preschool family").  The uniform also prevents other clothes becoming spoiled during messy activities, (it is not advisable to send your child to preschool in their "best" clothes or shoes).  It would also be helpful if you could dress your children in clothes that are easy to pull up/down to make toileting easier, whilst learning independence.

What should my child bring to preschool?

All children are asked to bring a pair of wellies, as children have access to the outdoor play area on a daily basis.  Children will need a weather appropriate coat, hat and gloves, or sun hat (when needed).  A bag containing a change of clothing and when in nappies or toilet training; nappies, wipes and nappy sacks.  All items must be clearly labelled, to avoid confusion or distress for the children. Though comforters are permitted, if necessary, we advise parents to discourage their children from bringing in personal toys.  This helps avoid potential upset, should a toy be accidentally spoilt.

Do I need to stay with my child?

No, you do not need to stay, parents/carers can leave their children at our setting, safe in the knowledge they will be cared for by our fully qualified and experienced practitioners.

Does my child need to be toilet trained?

Children do not need to be toilet trained; we are happy to work with parents during toilet training.  Please provide us with a named bag containing, nappies & wipes, or your child's requirements and several changes of clothing, in case of accidents.  As already mentioned, it would also be helpful if you could dress your children in clothes that are easy to pull up/down to make toileting easier, whilst learning independence.

My child is staying for snack\lunch what will they need?

Throughout the day children have a morning\afternoon snack and lunch.  Children will need to bring their own lunch pack containing a snacks, lunch and drink, water is available throughout the day.  Please ensure your child's lunch pack and water bottle are clearly named.  Due to Ofsted requirements and dental health care reasons, we actively promote healthy eating and encourage parents to provide a healthy lunch, therefore, sweets\chocolate and fizzy drinks are discouraged.
